Searchlight was founded in Shanghai in April 2020. In our short history we’ve worked with over a dozen clients, solving all kinds of business problems for startups, local enterprises and multinational businesses in China. We’re now ready to bring our thinking and perspective to clients in Taiwan, starting August 2023 and help businesses there succeed in a global marketplace.
What we excel at is providing a fresh perspective when clients are trying to identify where their core opportunity lies. This is where we deliver insightful, sometimes counter-intuitive perspectives on the market, helping clients realize what they should focus on and what they should stop putting resources into.
We diagnose your business challenges, work with you to define winning strategies and help to deploy them. Our philosophy is to work alongside client teams rather than provide a theoretical recommendation and leave it to you thereafter. We consult, co-create and build capability.
We focus first on core business problems and how to solve them – selecting the right business model, identifying the right market or consumer segment, setting up a consistent and winning brand architecture – and go from there to specific plans in areas like organization structure, financing, setting up KPIs and processes, packaging, pricing, connections planning, e-Commerce, CRM / SCRM and so on.
In our 3 years in China we’ve done work for international brands like J&J Acuvue, Pandora and Hollister Medical, established public Chinese companies like Sunner as well as up and coming local brands like Flowerplus and Unibrown Coffee.
Our Team
We’re a team of experienced professionals from consulting, brand management, start-ups and agencies, each with a decade or more of China specific experience as well as considerable international exposure. We’re all bilingual in English and Chinese (in fact most of us speak 3 or more languages) and have experience across companies at very different stages of their evolution – from startups to public listed corporations.
